Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555. ---- Mary Catherine Butler-Whitehurst, 76 year old resident of Houston, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 in Houston. She was born on July 1, 1939 in Amarillo, Texas to Thomas E. and Margaret Catherine (Boyd) Butler. Mary went to school at Sacred Heart in Vinita and Okmulgee. She worked as a legal secretary for Helmrich and Payne in Tulsa for several years. After retirement she lived in Mexico for a period of time, before moving to Houston. Mary was an avid tennis player, she also loved classical music and the opera. Mary loved her little dogs as well. The family includes: her three brothers, Paul and John Butler of Pryor, Tommy Butler of McKinney, Texas; nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents. The Rosary will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 7:00 PM at the St. Mark Catholic Church in Pryor, Father Celestine Obidiegwu will officiate. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita, with Rev. M. E. Cashen officiating.
