Mary Stewart

ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Mary Louise Stewart, age 73 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, in The Journey Home facility. Mary Louise Cardenas was born on July 21, 1943 in Bartlesville. She was the daughter of Jose Cardenas and Gertrude (Gamino) Cardenas. She grew up in Bartlesville where she received her education, graduating with her Sr. Class from College High. She furthered her education by attending Bartlesville Wesleyan University where she received a degree in Human Resources. From Bartlesville, she lived in Memphis, Tennessee, Morristown, New Jersey and on to Hudson, Ohio. She also lived in Borger and Houston, Texas. In 1986, she moved back to Bartlesville, where she has resided since that time. In Bartlesville, Mary was a member of the St. John Before the Latin Gate Church and had also attended St. James Catholic Church. She was a volunteer with the Mary Martha Outreach Center and she also volunteered at the St. John Women in Crisis Center. She enjoyed her family, loved her grandkids and loved being mom and grandma. Mary and Dan Stewart were married in Bartlesville, and they made their home there. Two children were born to this union, Spencer and Stephanie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Gertrude Cardenas; brother, Alfred Cardenas; and sisters, Dolores Holsten and Margaret Tarr. She is survived by her former husband, Dan Stewart of Bixby, Oklahoma; son, Spencer Stewart and his wife, Robin, of Seattle, Washington; daughter, Stephanie (Stewart) Baird and her husband, Doyle, of Almena, Kansas; two sisters, Alice Tennison, and Nancy Love, both of Bartlesville; and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Mary's memory be given to The Journey Home, 3406 S.E. Kentucky, Bartlesville, OK 74006. A Rosary will be held on Thursday at 6:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home chapel, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Deacon Joe Richard will lead the Rosary. A Mass will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM in St. John Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church, 715 S. Johnstone Ave., in Bartlesville. Father Michael Pratt will be the Celebrant.
