Michael Kirk Epperson, a dedicated machinist in the oil field industry, passed away on December 10, 2023, in Grove, Oklahoma at the age of 63. Born on January 27, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri, Michael led a fulfilling life full of accomplishments and cherished relationships.
Michael began his professional journey after completing his associate degree from Oklahoma State University. He found his calling in the oil field industry as a skilled machinist. Michael left an indelible mark on the industry, and his contributions will be remembered for years to come.
Before excelling in his professional life, Michael had an honorable military service with the Air Force from 1978 to 1982. During his time in the Air Force, he served as an Intelligence Operations Specialist for four years and held the rank of SGT. This experience shaped him into a disciplined individual with a strong work ethic that he carried throughout his life.
Beyond his career and military service, Michael had a wide range of interests and hobbies. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Whenever he had spare time, you could find him casting out lines or exploring nature's wonders. Additionally, Michael was known for his skills on the pool table and competed against friends and family in friendly matches.
One event that held significant meaning for Michael was attending the Warriors for Freedom Foundation Fishing Tournament every year. This foundation aimed to support veterans through various activities and programs while honoring their sacrifices. Michael's participation reflected his deep respect and appreciation for those who served.
Michael's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him best. His memory will be forever treasured by his loved ones. He is survived by Jackie Walter, his devoted significant other who stood by him through thick and thin. He also leaves behind his loving children: James Epperson and his wife Amber, Hillary Davis and her husband Orvie, Mallory Epperson and her partner Peyton Ferguson, as well as his stepchildren: Dakota Walters and her partner Matt Andrews, Savanna Walters, and Gregg Young and wife Debbie. Michael's grandchildren Xavier Davis, Ava Davis, Mia Parks, Myla Parks, Maren Andrews, and Waylon Young will always carry a piece of him in their hearts. Furthermore, he is survived by his great-grandchildren Parker Young and Kingston Davis.
Michael was preceded in death by his father Jim Epperson and mother Verbia E. Hughes-Epperson. Their support and love were instrumental to his achievements in life.
