Michael Hamilton

June 12, 1971 — December 3, 2016

Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555. Michael T. Hamilton, 45, lifelong resident of Grand Lake passed away on December 3, 2016. He was born June 12, 1971 to Michael L Hamilton Sr and Kathy Fenstermacher-Hamilton. He attended Vinita Public Schools from kindergarten through 5th grade. Michael spent his early childhood years fishing and swimming at the family's cabin near Ketchum. His granddad taught him how to fish, at a very young age, and he quickly developed a passion for it, that he carried throughout his lifetime. He later moved to the cabin on the lake, with his father and sister, attending schools in Ketchum. He moved to Wichita for a short time, during high school, but soon returned to the place he loved, which was Grand Lake. After high school, Michael was a Union Millwright for a few years, traveling around the state, on Union jobs with his father. Then, he decided to start a career in welding, and attended Tulsa Welding School, where he received training and became a certified welder. He worked many years around the Grand Lake area, doing various types of welding jobs, even doing underwater welding jobs on boat docks. Michael was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed camping, fishing, swimming in the creeks, hunting arrowheads, and just being close to nature. He enjoyed listening to rock music, and he played the drums in the school band. He was a proud Native man, who made Native tools and jewelry from arrowheads he collected, and wood that he carved and found in nature. He was a good-hearted spirit, with the strength of a warrior. If you crossed his path and needed something, if he had it, he would give it to you. He had a special love for all his children, and even distance couldn't separate them from his heart. He always had love for animals, especially dogs. He even had one special dog, Gunagee, for 15 years. Preceding him in death was his father, Michael Hamilton Sr; mother, Kathy Fenstermacher; grandfather, Bob Hamilton; grandfather, John Fenstermacher Jr; grandmother, Wanda Fenstermacher; an uncle, Dana Hamilton; and grandson, Lynnox Diamond. Survivors include: his spouse, Carmen, daughters, Valería and Wanda Hamilton, of the home; three sons, Ozzy Impson of Afton, Jujuan Hamilton of Miami, Tecumseh DuShane of Tahlequah; and daughter, Feather Diamond of Norman. One grandson, Phoenix Diamond of Norman; a sister Tami Hamilton-Shipman and husband Alan of Monkey Island; a nephew River Shipman of Monkey Island; grandmother, Wanda Hamilton of Vinita; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. There will be a family visitation on Monday from 5-7 pm at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, at South Grand Lake Christian Church, near Langley. Interment will be at the Lewis Shawnee Cemetery.
