Mildred "Amy" Cockrell, former resident of Jay, Oklahoma, was ushered into the arms of Jesus at the age of 104, on January 29, 2017 in Spring Hill, Kansas. Amy was born on September 19, 1912 in Holly, Colorado. She was the daughter of William Jackson and Eva Eunice (Padley) Green. Married to Felix Cockrell in Colcord, Oklahoma and moved to Jay, Oklahoma in 1941. Moving to the state of Washington for a part of WWII, she became one of the famed "Rosy Riveters" until war's end. Moving back to Jay in 1946 where she and her husband Felix resided until his decease in 1974. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, tending to her flower garden, and taking care of the yard work. But most of all, Amy made reading the Bible her number one priority. Amy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Felix Cockrell, two brothers; Earl Green and Buck Green, two sisters; Lena Mae Thomas and Doris McWilliams, two grandchildren and a son in-law. Amy was the beloved mother of four children; Helen Nelson of Springhill, Kansas, Robert Cockrell and his wife Bettie of Allen, Kansas, Alan Cockrell and his wife Janie of Tampa, Florida and Eva Mae Warren and her husband Charles of Spring Hill, Kansas. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2017 at Duffield Cemetery in Jay, Oklahoma with Bob Cockrell and Alan Cockrell officiating. Honoring Amy's life serving as casket bearers will be Robert Cockrell, David Stark, Gino Warren, Charles Warren, and Thad Cockrell.
