Mildred Whitney

Mildred Arlene Whitney, Grove resident, died Sunday evening January 9, 2011 at Integris Grove General Hospital at the age of 83 years. Mildred was born on May 26, 1927 in Meeker, Colorado to her parents, Homer and Olive Eveleth (Buckles) Jones. She graduated Canyon City High School in Canyon City, CO. She married Lamar Whitney on March 4, 1949 in Santa Ana, California. Mildred enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and riding around in the ‘big truck'. Mildred worked at Shangri-La from 1979-2001. She leaves many loving memories with her family, husband, Lamar, of the home; eight children, Wolfe Whitney, Gary Whitney, Don Whitney, Randy Whitney, of Grove, Elvis Whitney, of Thornton, CO, Ray Whitney of Joplin, MO, Brenda Villarreal, of Grove, Linda Cox, of Grove; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; as well as many other loving relatives and a host of friends. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM Saturday January 15, 2011 at Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home the family will receive friends during that time. No further services are planned.
