Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita, Oklahoma 918-256-5555.......Mona Joyce Cheek, 78 year old former Vinita resident, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Mona was born in Tulsa on December 17, 1939 to James and Mona (Swain) Coleman. She grew up in southern California and lived there until 1988 when they moved back to Oklahoma. On May 1, 1992 she was united in marriage to Harold Cheek. They made their home in Vinita until 2010 when they moved to Oklahoma City. Mona loved animals especially her dog Bo. She enjoyed sewing, going on cruise ship vacations, traveling, particularly to beaches, and zip lining. Most of all she loved her family. She always made sure she brought the family together for Christmas. Survivors include her husband Harold Cheek of the home, children: Sherry Cornwell and husband Duane of Vinita, Randall Goss and wife Jennifer of Vinita, Beverly Akins and husband Raymond of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Jamie Huffman and husband Caleb of Vinita, brother Richard George of Bakersfield, CA, grandchildren: Brandi Niggemann, Christina Grooms, Traci Grooms, Travis Thompson, Raymond Goss, Jarod Goss, and Kathrine Goss, Lindsey Akins, Breanna Akins, Brittany Akins, Heath Huffman, and Bailey Jo Huffman. She is preceded in death by her parents, stillborn daughter Tina Goss, and daughter Rebecca Cook. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.honorigmemories.com.
