Nancy Ann Owens, 69 year-old Vinita resident, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Rosewood Terrace in Vinita. She was born May 12, 1938 in Vinita, to Henry and Dora Mae (Hann) Whitfield. She married Maurice Gayle Owens on August 31, 1957 in Miami, Oklahoma, Maurice preceded her in death. Nancy worked at Eastern State Hospital for over 36 years, as a Mental Health Aide II. She was a member of the Craig County Baptist Church, enjoyed Vinita football, crossword puzzles, jig saw puzzles, volunteering at her church and watching her grandson race cars. The family includes; three children, Maurice Gayle (Buddy) Owens, Jr. and wife Samantha of Vinita, Lisa Diane Hicks and husband Kenneth of Tecumseh, Janie Letbetter and husband Mark of Owasso; her grandchildren, John Stonebarger, Justin Stonebarger, Michaela Stick, Tiffany Pine, and Brett Hicks; great-grandchildren, Kayedence Conway, Kaseon Pine, Braydon Stonebarger, and the soon to be born Emma Stonebarger; brothers, J. D. Whitfield of Pryor, Charles S. Whitfield of Tulsa, James Whitfield of Vinita, Bob Whitfield of Miami, Terry Whitfield of Vinita; sisters Dorothy Donavant of Grove, Juanita Gagat of Tulsa, Wanda Flood of Chelsea, and Linda Collins of Vinita. Nancy was preceded by in death by her husband, her parents, Henry and Dora Whitfield, a brother, Henry Whitfield, Jr. and a sister Mary Alice Bates. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral will be held Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Craig County Baptist Church in Vinita, with Pastor Don Carden officiating.
