Nancy Ann Proctor, long time resident of Grove, Oklahoma passed away November 13th, 2022. Nancy was born on April 30th, 1936, in Shreveport, LA, to Mary and Earl Weeks. In 1947 she moved with her mother and stepfather to Midwest City, Oklahoma.  She attended Midwest City High School, Gulf Park College in Gulfport, MS and obtained her BA degree in Fashion Arts from the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, Phi Theta Kappa and Dean’s honor roll. Shortly after graduating from College Nancy was hired by Neiman Marcus in Downtown Dallas utilizing her fashion degree.  While working at the store Nancy was personally selected by store owner, Stanley Marcus to model the latest in fashion and couture. Nancy moved to Tulsa, Ok in 1959 with husband Bill Allen. Upon the passing of her husband Nancy chose to move permanently to her beloved farm in Zena, Oklahoma where she remained the rest of her life.  In the 1970’s she completed a permanent residence with husband Burl Adair on the farm that she loved so dearly.  Nancy continued to use her design expertise and was hired by many clients to help transform their homes with her decorating talents.  Nancy worked as a decorator for the shops at Shangri-La as well as Kelley’s store in Jay.  She had a wonderful sense of style, a love for beautiful antiques and transformed living spaces effortlessly.  In 1981 Nancy married Joseph Proctor and they formed their furniture design company, American Folk Art Company.  Their store and designs were loved by many and shipped all over the country to buyers who appreciated their design esthetic. Throughout Nancy’s life her great love of nature and animals was evident in everything she did.  There was not a moment that went by that she was not outdoors purveying her property and attending to every detail.  Nancy had a voracious appetite for seeking knowledge. She was an avid reader and was surrounded by her many books covering a multitude of interests.  Always forthright in her opinions, she would regularly go to great lengths to educate those closest to her. Fiercely independent till the very end, and always the most researched on any subject in the room, even without the assistance of modern technology to rely on for information.  Her self taught business acumen was impressive as she was always prepared with a plethora of knowledge.

Nancy is preceded in death by her Mother Mary Bales Ingle and Stepfather Everett O. Ingle, and her husband of 20+ years Joseph V. Proctor.  She is survived by her sister, Sharon Weeks Seminoff of McKinney, TX and two Nieces, Emily Seminoff Mize and Husband Blake Mize of McKinney, TX and Mia Seminoff Davis and Husband Michael Robin Davis of Dallas, TX.  Great Nieces Mary Catherine Davis and Emily Grace Davis of Dallas, TX.  Nephew Bob Proctor of Carlsbad, California.  The family would like to thank John and Janet Carpenter, Kim Hocker and Jeffrey Orr for their help and attention to Nancy over the years and especially in her final months. Thank you to Joe and Faye Downs, Leon Myers and Cindi and Al Hernandez for their many years of support in Mena.
