Opha Cable

Esther Cable went to be with our Lord on October 1, 2013, in Nowata, Oklahoma. She was born in Crowder, Okla. to James Robert Mills and Hettie Sears Mills. Esther is preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters: Viva Martin, Letha Langham, Lawton Mills, Reba Hays, Floyd Mills, Harold Mills, Lois Kilburn, and Maurine Poole. Esther married Alva Cable of Savanna, Okla. on September 21, 1941, in McAlester. They spent their 59 years of marriage in McAlester, Idabel, and Eufaula, Okla. In Eufaula, Esther owned and operated her beauty shop for more than 30 years. She was involved in all areas of church work including: WMU, choir, teaching Sunday School, providing worship services for the nursing home, cooking and counseling for kids at church camp, VBS, Mission on Wheels, the Baptist Rescue Mission and provided transportation for senior citizens. Alva preceded Esther in death in April, 2000, and they are survived by two daughters: Velma Joan Maddox (Fred) of Nowata, Okla., Joyce Zangle (Steve) of Phoenix, Arizona. She left behind four very wonderful grandchildren that she loved very much: James Robert Woods (Rebecca) of Tampa, Florida, Alan Zangle (Valerie) of Phoenix, Joyce Lynn Wallace (Donnie) of Coffeeville Kansas, Carrie Thornton (Gary) of Phoenix. She is also leaving nine great grandchildren and two sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Mills and Betty Cable Lee. Services will be held at the North Fork Baptist Church in Eufaula, on October 8th at 2:00. Pastor Wayne Clayton will officiate over the services. There will be a viewing at 11:00 with lunch served at noon. A memorial can be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief Partnership and Volunteer Mission Office, 3800 N. May Ave. Oklahoma City, OK 73112 which Esther and Alva were actively involved.
