Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261. Quannah J. Blackwood, 76 year old resident of Jay, Oklahoma, passed away on May 3, 2018 in Joplin, Missouri. Quannah was born on June 30, 1941 in Baron, Oklahoma. He was the son of George Blackwood and Alice "Babe" (Scraper) Blackwood. Quannah proudly served in the United States Army. Quannah was the Radiology Manager for the Claremore Indian Hospital. Quannah served as a Cherokee Nation Tribal Member and and later retired from the Cherokee Nation. He was famous for his fantastic Fry Bread and Indian Tacos. Quannah was a member of the Grove Police Citizens Academy. He enjoyed going fishing, bird hunting and looked forward to deer hunting season every year. He was a very talented and gifted woodworker and spent many hours working on his projects. Quannah loved spending time with family and going to their sporting events. Quannah had a heart of gold, a great sense of humor and was known for his practical jokes. He will be dearly missed by all. Quannah was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers Raymond Blackwood, Eugene Blackwood, Douglas Blackwood, Emmit Blackwood, and Cecil Blackwood, three sisters; Maegene McCarty, Emma Watson and Lana Sue Hawkins. He is survived by his wife Vickie Ann Crawford Blackwood of the home, his children; Quannah Blackwood Jr., of Salina, OK, Dawn Janzen of Grove, OK, Joel Blackwood and his wife Laura of Claremore, OK Rick Crawford and his wife Rhonda of Stillwater, OK, Robin Thompson and her husband Calvin of Moore, OK, Rodney Crawford of Jay, OK, and Ronald Crawford and his wife Jera of Jay, OK, one sister Patricia Lindsey and her husband Al of Baron, Oklahoma. Quannah was truly blessed with 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren along with numerous other loving family members. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Zena Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Thomas officiating. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army from Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Online condolences can be made by viewing Quannah's Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com.
