Reverend Campbell

May 3, 1934 — November 13, 2007

Reverend Paul Jonathan Campbell was born May 3, 1934, in Nowata, Oklahoma to Rev. Francis Mead Campbell, and Viola Maude (Clement) Campbell. He graduated from Nowata High School in 1952 and continued his education at Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1965. He served his country as a pilot for the United States Air Force. Paul served 23 years before retiring as a Major. During his service he was a bombadier/navigator on the B-47 for the Strategic Air Command (SAC) and later was the aircraft commander on the C-141 Starlifter for the Military Airlift Command (MAC). He flew many missions to Vietnam during the Vietnam War. While doing all this he also was a pilot with United Airlines for over 25 years. He was the first in a program established for Reserve Air Force Pilots and the Commercial Airlines to work together. But Paul wasn't done serving yet. Paul's love of service and flying continued with him becoming the Pastor of the Trinity Full Gospel Church following in his father's footsteps. His father had started the church in 1933 and it was an honor for him to continue the ministry. During the mid 1970's Paul served the City of Nowata as Mayor and also was a building contractor building many commercial buildings around Nowata, Bartlesville, and Vinita. Above all the things he did for others he loved his family most. He married the love of his life, Shirley Fields in Nowata, July 31, 1954. His wife and his children Connie, Steve, and Vicki had a special place in his heart. His church family followed close behind as he loved serving them and leading them in their worship. He will be missed by all who knew him. Preceding Mr. Campbell in death are his parents, and a brother, James David Campbell. Survivors include his wife Shirley, of the home in Nowata, children Connie Wilson, and her husband John, of Nowata, Steven Campbell, of San Francisco, California, Vicki Owens, and husband Jerry, of Springfield, Missouri, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, brother John Mark Campbell, of Claremore, Oklahoma, sister Mary Hewitt, of Clarksville, Arkansas, many other relatives as well as a host of friends. Donations may be made to the Trinity Full Gospel Church of Nowata.
