Richard Blair

Richard Deal Blair, 79, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away September 10, 2011 at his home. He was born October 2, 1931 in the Post Oak community to Lloyd Victor and Rose Eva (Turvey) Blair. He was raised and educated in the Bartlesville community, graduating from College High School in 1949. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 where he served as a corporal in the Korean Conflict and earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service. Richard married Della Marie (Moody) Blair in 1955 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They were lifelong members of the First Baptist Church of Bartlesville where he was very devoted and involved in the Men's Ministry. He worked and retired from Reda Pump after nearly 40 years of employment. He was a very giving and selfless man. He especially enjoyed visiting with his friends at the local café and turning on the t.v. to watch his favorite old time black and white cowboy movies. Richard loved his family very much. He was an extremely supportive father and grandfather and enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's events. He always looked forward to his family getting together and spending time with one another. Richard is survived by his son, Miles Blair and his wife, Kelli, of Ramona, Oklahoma; daughter, Misty Cox of Pearland, Texas; four grandchildren, Dustin Blair, Amanda Cox, Ashlynn Cox and Jakob Cox and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers, four sisters and one grandchild. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Bartlesville with Dr. Joe Dan Fowler officiating. Full military honors will be observed. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Arnold Moore Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Men's Ministry.
