Richard Hawkins

Richard O. Hawkins, 72, a Zena resident, passed away at Integris Grove General Hospital on Sunday, November 2, 2008. He was born on june 28, 1936 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to George and Mildred (Kelly) Hawkins. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army. While he was working he helped bury fiber optic cable for the phone companies. Mr. Hawkins was a member of the Zena Baptist Church where he was baptized. He loved to garden, flowers and vegetables; he never left the tomatoes out of the garden. He als enjoyed feeding the humming birds. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Mildred Hawkins and half sister Vita Jennison. Survivors include his sisters Ethel Deeds of Zena and Phyllis Watson of Tulsa along with one aunt Delores Rose of Ponca City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends. services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the Zena Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Thomas Officiating. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
