Robert Minson

Robert W. (Bob) Minson, 86 year old Miami, Oklahoma resident, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2014 Freeman's Hospital, Joplin, Missouri after a lengthy illness. Bob was born on October 13, 1928 southwest of Vinita to John William (Bill) and Nellie F. (Muncy) Minson. Bob married "my sweetie" Betty Harrison on January 22, 1949 in Vinita and they were married 66 years. Bob loved being with his immediate and very large extended family. Family stories were a treat for all to hear. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing with relatives, and listening to OU football. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Bob worked at B.F. Goodrich for 38 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Vinita Lodge #5 A.F.A.M. and Tulsa Scottish Rite Consistory. He was also a lifetime member of the Miami Elks Lodge #1320. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Imogene Ramsey and Geneva Jackson; and brothers, Tom, Glenn, Bill, and Donny. Bob is survived by: his wife Betty of the home; daughter, Janet Weld and husband Jim , and granddaughter Jennifer of Springfield, Missouri; a special friend and important member of Bob's family Tom Barbee of Boise, Idaho; brother Louis Minson and wife Helen of Vinita; sister in-laws: Frances Minson, Margaret Minson, Alma Minson and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Also Bob's family would like to express their loving appreciation of the care and comfort provided by the doctors and medical staff at Freeman's Hospital, Joplin, Missouri and the medical staff at Eastwood Manor, Commerce, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 29 from 1-2 PM at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers: Don Blanchard, John Hayes, Bud Headlee, George Hood, John Minson and Jerry Plake The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Christine Iannucilli officiating.
