Roberta "Betty" Hicks

Roberta (Betty) Violet Hicks, 89, passed away Tuesday, June 25th, 2019 at her home in

Nowata.  She was born February 18, 1930 in Nowata, OK to Charles and Dixie (Sorrells) Ryan.

Betty attended Nowata schools.  She married the love of her life Paul Hubert Hicks on June 8th,

1947. She and Paul loved to dance together and often went to Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa to

Dance the night away. Betty enjoyed working puzzles, watching game shows, drinking coffee

with creamer, and corresponding and visiting with her sister-in-law’s Elaine and Lorene. she

also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty

attended the First Church of God in Nowata.

Betty is survived by two children; Judy Duggan and husband Rick of Ponca City, son Charlie

Hicks and wife Debbie of Talala. Betty is also survived by her son-in-law Phillip Ogden of

Nowata; one sister; Dee Armstrong and husband Bob; two brothers; Glen Ryan and wife Katie,

And Richard Ryan; six grandchildren, Kristi Malaske and husband Larry, Candy Fite and

Husband David, Penny Hart, Ryan Hicks and wife Jamie, Tracy Duggan and wife Belyn, and

Ben Duggan and wife Kesha; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and

Many other relatives and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; daughter Margie (Hicks) Ogden; parents

Charles and Dixie Ryan; brother Bud Ryan and sisters Dotti Meade, Charlene LaBarr, and

Shirley Whitchurch.

Betty will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
