Roy Abraham Knowles, a cherished family man, passed away on March 31, 2025, at the age of 75 in Joplin, Missouri. Born on February 22, 1950, in Baxter Springs, Kansas, Roy embodied the values of hard work and family devotion throughout his life.
Roy's career as an automobile mechanic was marked by his passion for tinkering with motors. He found joy in getting his hands dirty, whether he was fixing vehicles or working diligently on lawn mowers. He was very quiet man who expressed himself through his actions.
A proud veteran, Roy served in the U.S. Army, where he developed a strong sense of discipline and commitment that he carried into all aspects of his life. His Christian faith was another cornerstone of his identity, guiding him through life's challenges and joys.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Shirley (Posey) Knowles; their two children, Tammy Hummingbird and her husband Drew, and Roy Jr. and his wife Heather. He also leaves behind his sister, Alice Knowles, as well as three grandchildren: Casey Smith, Xaviar Ward, and Arcia Knowles. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Holly Smith, Bow Smith, Gunner Crossland, and Olivia Ward.
He was predeceased by his mother, Dorthy Mage Curry-Knowles, his stepfather, Thomas Knowles, and his grandson, David Ray Gudde and his great-grandson, David Ward.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1-2 PM, Friday, April 4, 2025, at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
Roy Abraham Knowles will be profoundly missed, but his memory and the love he fostered will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
