She was born July 29, 1918 in Parsons, Kansas to John M. and Ruth Estelle (Salinger) Setzer. She was educated in at Wann Oklahoma on November 11, 1940 she married Melton H. "Buddy" Meek in Arkansas City, Kansas. They lived in the Wichita and Leavenworth, Kansas area until his death in 1971. She returned to the Nowata area after that. Ruth was a member of the Presbyterian church, Eastern Star, the La-Kee-Kon club. She enjoyed singing and dancing. Ruth held a special place in her heart for all her family and will be missed by all who knew her. Ruth is survived by a son, Mike Meek and his wife Susan of Mesa, Arizona; a granddaughter, Robin Huesgen of Tucson, AZ; and two great grandchildren, Mila Huesgen and Raefe Huesgen. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Setzer; her husband, Melton H. Meek; an infant son, Patrick Allen Meek; a sister, Ione Smith.
