Sally (Leforce) Boyd passed away at her home February 17, 2020. She was born in Vinita, Oklahoma on June 5, 1943 to John Leforce and Burnice (Stone) Leforce.
Sally attended and graduated from Vinita High School in 1961. She had many friends in school and was in the Just Us Girls sorority and the Vinita High School band. Sally then went to Northeastern State University where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She graduated with a degree in education.
Sally began her teaching career in Bluejacket. She soon transferred to Riverside School in Vinita and then taught 2nd Grade at Hall Halsell until her retirement. Ms. Boyd was always very proud of her former students, as she followed their lives and accomplishments.
After her retirement from teaching, Sally began a career in tireless volunteerism. Sally was a member of many organizations, including: University Women, Vinita Classroom Teachers Association, The Order of the Eastern Star, United Methodist Women, Retired Teachers Association, and served on the organizing committee for the All School Reunion. She also did many jobs in the First United Methodist Church. Sally helped with the Food Pantry, feeding of the Youth Force participants, and was in charge of the Red Cross Bloodmobile.
Sally’s favorite activities were watching her 3 grandchildren doing their various activities. While 2 of her grandchildren were involved in the VHS Drama productions over the last 9 years, she helped provide meals and snacks for all the drama kids. She also enjoyed attending Vinita High School sporting events, cheer competitions, Blue Pride Band performances, and watching football on television.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, John & Burnice Leforce, sisters Johnann Helt and Patsy Inman.
Survivors include son Brian Boyd and his wife Mary Anne of Vinita, grandchildren Katy Anne and Allyson of Tulsa, and Cooper of Vinita. Sister Sammie and husband Richard Hays of Vinita, brother-in-law Dave Boyd and his wife Carla of Okoee, OK, and special friends Beckie Bandy and her family of Vinita. Sally also had numerous and wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held Friday, February 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Vinita with Pastor Andrew Haire officiating. Donations may be made to the Youth Force Project via First United Methodist Church in her memory. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita, OK.
