Sequoyah was born on June 26, 1940 in Grove, Oklahoma. He was the son of Doris and Juanita (Landrum) Carey. He worked as a welder in the iron working industry. Sequoyah proudly served in the United States Army. Sequoyah was preceded in death by his parents Doris and Juanita Carey and two sons; David and Shannon. He leaves behind his two sisters Ynema Carey of Jay, Zella Tapp of Grove, his step daughter Orpah Church of Colcord, Oklahoma, his Aunt Billy Sanders of Grove and Uncle Joe Carey of Grove, , nieces and nephews Monte Rutherford, Karla Nelson, Cody Rutherford, Ty Rutherford, Keith Tapp and Carrie Tapp. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, November 6, 2017 at Jay - Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
