Sharon Kay Phillips, age 72, Miami Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Sharon Kay was born on November 29, 1947 in rural Craig County to the late Willie J. “W.J.” and Anna Elizabeth “Betty” (Ulrich) Snyder. The Snyder family resided in rural Craig County near Bluejacket at the time of her birth, before moving to Bluejacket for a short time then making a permanent home in Miami. Sharon was next to the youngest of five children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brother, Clarence “Bud” Snyder; sister, Mary Sills; nephew, Rick Battenfield; and her ex-husband, James “Jim” Phillips.
She attended elementary and secondary schools in Miami.
Sharon married James Silas Phillips after high school. The couple resided in the north eastern Oklahoma area. Of that union the couple had one son, Silas Paul. The couple later divorced. Later in life they became very close friends until his death.
Sharon Kay was a happy go lucky person, she was loving, forgiving, and a generous person; she truly had a servant’s heart. She enjoyed caring for others usually putting their needs before her own. Life wasn’t always easy for Sharon Kay, but she was a survivor and persevered over hardships. Her faith in Jesus Christ allowed her to adapt to circumstances that seemed impossible to many. Sharon loved people deeply and she was very genuine in that love. When she told you that she loved you she meant it. Sharon Kay was a hard worker in and outside the home.
Sharon Kay enjoyed shopping in general; she often gravitated towards the clothing section, then on to the shoe department and ended in the cosmetics and hair care. She always thought of others in her shopping trips often picking up an item or two for her friends or family.
Sharon Kay is survived by her son, Silas Paul Phillips; brother, Jerry “Jug” Snyder and wife Brenda; sister, Charlotte Arnold; several nieces, and nephews.
