Shirley Hicks

Luginbuel Funeral Home Vinita, 918-256-5555 ---- Shirley Jean (Miller) Hicks, 70 year old former Vinita resident, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. She was born on March 29, 1944 in Eucha, Oklahoma to Albert F. and Lodema A. (Downing) Miller. Shirley married George William Hicks in 1960 and moved to Vinita, where she raised three children. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Vinita. Shirley worked was as nurse, and truly enjoyed taking care of her patients. For the past ten years she had lived 5 years in Skiatook and 5 years in Bartlesville at Big Valley. Shirley mostly enjoyed being with her family and friends, also, quilting, reading and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Jerry Leroy Miller. The family includes; her children, Kenneth Ray Hicks and wife Lisa of Tecumseh, Michael Scott Hicks and wife Mary of Eolia, Missouri, Sheila Pier and husband Patrick of Enid; her best friend, Joseph Thompson; grandchildren, Char-leigh and Travis Moore of Tulsa, Lindsy and David Jones of Sand Springs, Jake and Tiffany Pine of Tecumseh, Brett and Darci Hicks of Edmond, Koty Pahukoa of Shawnee, Karyssa Pahukoa of Pryor, Jack Hicks and Spencer Hicks of Eolia, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday evening October 1, 2014, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Vinita, with Pastor Justin Turner officiating.
