Silas Blevins

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK 918-253-3222...... Silas E. Blevins passed away at Monroe Manor Nursing Center in Jay, OK on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the age of 75. Silas was born on December 27, 1938 in Delaware County, OK, the son of the late William Lee Blevins and Ola (Rose) Blevins. Silas attended the Indianola School until he and his family moved to Colorado. Silas went to work in the saw mill and logging industry at an early age. He then worked in the mines for a few years until he started his own logging business with his brother Q.L. In the mid 1950's he married JoAnn Rose in Miami, OK and to this union six children were raised. In 1982 he and his family moved back to the Jay area where they continued their logging tradition. In the mid 1990's Silas married Phyllis Weir in Miami, OK, and to this union two children were raised. Silas enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on old trucks, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Joann Blevins; wife Phyllis Blevins; son Donald Blevins; two great grandsons: Jesse Carpenter and Jacob Carpenter; and three brothers: Norman Blevins, Coleman Blevins, and Utah Blevins. He is survived by his children: David Paxton and his wife Kay of Winfield, KS, Linda Kay McKinney of Corpus Christi, TX, John Blevins and his wife Shelly of Jay, OK, Sheila Law and her husband Garrell of Sulphur Springs, AR, Randy Blevins of Southwest City, MO; Kiamichi Weir of Jay, OK; Brittney Blevins of Jay, OK; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; three brothers: Q.L. Blevins of Jay, OK, Clarence Blevins and his wife Wanda of Southwest City, MO, and Hoppy Blevins of Jay, OK; one sister JoAnn Browning of Jay, OK; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at the Oak Chapel Church on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 2PM with Rev. Wesley Robbins, presiding. The burial will follow at the Indianola Cemetery in Jay, OK. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 6PM to 8PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK.
