Smith Steven Speakman, 69, of Grove, Oklahoma died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at his residence. He was born April 15, 1939 in Lebanon, Missouri to Smith E. Speakman and Della Cornelison. He married his wife Marianna on June 19, 1976 in Miami, Oklahoma. He served his nation in the National Guard and earned a degree of Bachelor of Science from Kansas State College at Pittsburg. He resided in Joplin, Missouri from 1955 until 1974, Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1974 until 1976, and Louisville, Kentucky from 1976 until 1999 when the couple moved to Grove. Steven worked for Missouri Rogers, Brandeis Machinery and retired from Cedar Rapids, Inc. as District Manager of Heavy Equipment Sales in 2003. Steven was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church of Grove and loved camping, fishing, canoeing and hunting. He was a big fan of "cruise night" in Grove and played golf at Patricia Island. He is survived by his loving wife Marianna of the home; son, Dr. Chris Maynard and wife Sarah; grandchildren, Amanda Pacheco, Christopher Maynard, Julian Pacheco; sister, Sue Ann August and husband Ed; brother, Jack Speakman and wife Graceanne; nephews, Edward and Robert August; and niece, Stephanie August. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Grace Presbyterian Church of Grove, Oklahoma. Funeral Services for Smith Steven Speakman will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Grace Presbyterian Church of Grove, Oklahoma followed by interment at Osborne Memorial Cemetery of Joplin, Missouri at 3:30p.m. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
