Sonney Lee Kingfisher

Sonney Lee Kingfisher, age 64, a lifetime member of the Grove community, passed away on December 21, 2024, following a sudden battle with cancer. Born on July 21, 1960, in Grove, he spent his life in the town he cherished, where he made a lasting friend through his work and personal connections.

Sonney was a proud graduate of Grove High School and devoted his career to maintenance at the Seneca-Cayuga Tribal complex. His commitment to his work and the community was evident in everything he undertook, earning him respect and admiration from his peers and those he served.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sonney was known for his love of leisure activities. He enjoyed watching OU football, where he passionately cheered for his team. His days were often spent at the casino, where he found excitement and enjoyment. He embraced outdoor life, indulging in swimming, floating along the creek, playing softball and horseshoes, all while spending quality time with friends and family. He often shared moments of laughter over a beer with those he cared about. Sonney was particularly devoted to his dogs, ensuring they received the love and care they deserved.

Sonney leaves behind his significant other, Beverly Main, and his four brothers: Harvey Kingfisher, Howard Kingfisher, Randy Kingfisher, and Joe Dennis and his sister Laura Curtis. Sonney is also survived by several nieces and nephews and Bev’s children.

Preceding Sonney in death were his father, Houston Kingfisher, his mother, Ollie Faye Sharp, and one brother, Bobby Kingfisher. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit and memory will forever be cherished by all whose lives he touched.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 PM, Thursday, December 26, 2024. Funeral service will be held at 1PM, Friday, December 27, 2024, both at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel located at 711 S. Main Street, Grove, Oklahoma. Sonney will be laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery.
