Theron Easter

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK (918) 786-2261 ~ Theron Oliver Easter, 78, of Hickory Grove went to be with his Savior on May 6, 2016 at his home. Theron was born in Rural Delaware County, near Zena, Oklahoma on October 1, 1937 to James Oliver and Cordelia Vertie (Bartley) Easter. In 1955, he graduated from Hays High School in Hays, Kansas. On October 11, 1957, he married Peggy Jean Hase in Miami, Oklahoma. Theron received his fist teaching degree from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas and began teaching in Kansas shortly after graduating. In 1968, he received his Master's Degree in Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He attended the Freewill Baptist Church near his home. Theron was a man of many talents. He spent 29 years teaching math and science at Fairland High School in Fairland, Oklahoma. In those 29 years, he NEVER missed a day of work. The year he retired from teaching, he presented every graduating senior from Fairland High School a pencil and ink portrait he had drawn of each of them. He was a published author, an excellent artist who could draw, paint and do wood carvings, and ordained minister, a locksmith, as well as mowing hay and caring for cattle. He also was an accomplished bowler. In 1994, he helped his team with the National Bowling Championship. Theron held many offices in both the local bowling leagues as will as the local bowling association. He loved bowl, hunt and fish; he shared those hobbies with his entire family. Theron was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vertie and one son, Theris J.O. Easter. He is survived by his wife Peggy, of the home, two sons; Marvin Dale Easter and his wife Karla and Timothy Owen Easter, four grandsons; Rocky DeSilva, Austin DeSilva, Levi Easter and Winston Easter, two great grandchildren Brianna and Korbin DeSilva all of the Hickory Grove Community. He is also survived by his only sibling, James A. (Jim) Easter of Zena, Oklahoma. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Monday, May 09, 2016 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Sam Smith at Freewill Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. Interment will be at the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
