Memorial services for Ty Augustine Hewitt are 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Nowata Middle School Gymnasium with Dr. Brett Rogers and Pastor Todd Brock officiating. There will be a rosary at 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Nowata. Ty Augustine Hewitt, born September 9, 1970, in Nowata, Oklahoma, died September 17, 2017, in Tulsa. Ty was a 1989 graduate of Nowata High School and a member of the 1988 State Runner-up football team, and a member of the basketball and baseball teams. After graduation he attended Cowley County Community College and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. While at CCCC and NSU, he was a member of the baseball teams. In 1995 Ty started his teaching and coaching career at Jay Public Schools. He was employed as the head baseball coach at Jay. In 1998 Ty returned to his hometown where he was employed by Nowata Public Schools as a teacher, coach, and athletic director. He was a true Ironmen. He was involved in all three of the silver State Runner-up Championship balls whether he was a player, coach, or athletic director. Ty married Deedee Hewitt on July 20, 1991, in Nowata. Ty and Deedee started their family in 1997 with the birth of their daughter Halley. In 2004 they had their second daughter Hanna. Ty enjoyed being a cattle rancher and supporting all Nowata school and sporting events. The most important thing in his life was his family and being with them any chance he got. Ty Hewitt is survived by his wife Deedee, his daughters Halley and Hanna, his parents Kenneth and Denise Hewitt, of Nowata, and his brother Thad and his wife Mary of Nowata, his father-in-law Mike Dye and his wife Connie Dye of Nowata, his sister-in-law Gina Thompson and her husband Justin Thompson of Nowata, nephews Bryce Hewitt and Jace Thompson, and niece Chesnie Hewitt. Ty Hewitt is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Lloyd and Minnie Hewitt, and maternal grandparents Lawrence and Joyce Perring. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
