Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555. Vernon Richard "JR" Root, 57 year old Big Cabin resident, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Vinita. He was born on December 10, 1959 in Wilmington, Ohio to Vernon Richard Root, Sr. and Melvie (Clifford) Root. JR graduated from Little Miami High School in Morrow, Ohio. He worked several years for B & J Glass in Vinita as an installer. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, kayaking, hunting, camping and arrowhead hunting. The family includes: his children, Shelly Rose of Pryor, Tim Root of Vinita; his mother Melvie Root of Big Cabin; siblings, Jarrod Root of Utah, Pete Root of Big Cabin, James Root of Welch, Don Root of Vinita, Janye Martin of Chelsea, Crystal Pleasant of Mannford and Kathy Black of Big Cabin; five grandchildren, Alexis Root, Parker Rose, Tucker Rose, Piper Rose and Easton Wolfe. He was preceded by his father and a brother, Christopher "Tater" Root in 2014. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, July15, 2017 at 10:00 AM at his favorite fishing hole on Big Cabin Creek.
