Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma, 918-786-2261. Vilate "Val" Ruth (Slifer) West, 95 year old Grove, OK, resident passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017. Val was born on November 20, 1921, in Boise, Idaho, to Martin and Lida (Woolsey) Slifer. She was married to Judson Paul West for 68 years. Val was a member of Grace Harbor Church in Grove, OK. She was a member of the Garden Club here in Grove also. She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets for the hospital. Val was an oil painter and loved to play the organ. She was also a founding member of Sweet Annie's Herb Club. Val was preceded in death by her husband, Judson West, her parents, Martin and Lida Slifer, one daughter, Susan West and one brother Ruben Slifer. She is survived by two daughters, Becky Williamson and husband Tim of Grove, OK, and Linda West of St. Louis, MO, five grandchildren, Russell, Sue Beth, Troy, Jeff and Jennifer, several great grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 10:00 am at Olympus Cemetery in Grove, OK. Rev. Marty Hughes will officiate.
