William Brannan Jr.

William E. "Bud" Brannan, Jr. 93 year old rural Adair resident, died at his home on Sunday, April 15, 2012. He was born July 19, 1918 in Nowata, Oklahoma to William E. Brannan, Sr. and Nellie Frances (McKibben) Brannan. After high school Bud attended Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater for three years. He married Rose Begley in 1938 in Sapulpa; they lived in California for many years before moving back to Oklahoma in 1970. Bud served in the United States Army during World War II. Bud was a man of many talents; he was an inventor of many different things, including box machines, clutches and mathematical items. He worked in many fields as well, including, oil field tool man, the Giumarra Brothers Vinyard (Snapple products), wood cutter, bee keeper, realtor, gardener, farmer-stockman, box making contractor for agriculture products, ham radio operator, owned and operated motels in Ponca City and the Western Motel in Vinita. Bud also was a former RCA Cowboy, he was a team roper. He put together the Bakersfield California Rodeo at the fairgrounds in 1961 and 1962. Bud also had some notable horses including; Donners Mann (Tee Woolman's), Pecos (Gil Favors Horse in Rawhide) and some of the horses ridden by Lee Majors in Big Valley. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. The family includes: his wife Rose of the home; daughters Dorothy "Dee" Harper of Oak View, California, Ellen Donofrio of Anaheim, California, Roberta Lee Faulconer-Thomas of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a son Charles Brannan of Coarsegold, California; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Barbara Fiser and Linda Bradley and five sisters. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Roger Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Casket bearers will be, Michael Evans, Wesley Faulconer, Bobbie Bradley, Stan Faulconer, Shawn Faulconer, and Brian Fiser.
