William Mcgimpsey

After a courageous 5-year battle with multiple serious health conditions, Tech Sergeant (retired) William (Will) Ray McGimpsey, 62, Langley, passed into eternity with his Jesus, on June 17, 2019, surrounded by his precious loved ones at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

Will was born on October 28, 1956 in Vinita, the youngest son of Bill and Anna (Harrison) McGimpsey. He graduated from Ketchum High School in 1974.

While serving his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1994, Will became a computer specialist and employed that expertise at Oracle America Corporation as a Senior Computer Consultant, traveling extensively in the United States and Canada from 1995 to 2014, before retiring due to serious health issues.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and was stationed at several Air Force bases around the world during his military career. Will was also a life-long member of a church he loved very much, First Christian Church in Langley.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Anna McGimpsey; his brother, Marty Ray McGimpsey, and sisters, Carol and Mary McGimpsey.

Will is survived by his loving wife, Pamella (Hazlett) McGimpsey. They were married on September 1, 2007, in Topeka, KS. Other survivors include their precious children: Dillon Hazlett (Angela) Parkville, MO, daughters, Taylor McGimpsey (Chase Monroe) Langley, DesTanee McGimpsey, Makenna McGimpsey, youngest son, David McGimpsey, and granddaughters, Elliet Hazlett and Ezlyn Monroe. He is also survived by sisters Lois (Ed) Brown, Jay, OK, and Willa Rose Marriott, Destin, FL, and brother, Jerry (Regina) Parrish, Kansas City, KS, and many nephews and nieces in Topeka, KS and Oklahoma.

A celebration memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, at First Christian Church, 220 Cherokee Avenue, Langley. Family and friends are welcome to meet from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. before the service. Inurnment will be at a later date with family.

Will’s wife, Pam, would like to extend a very special thank you to all the doctors and staff at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa for your excellent care and kindness; to their wonderful church family at First Christian Church for your love, cards, calls, visits, and prayers; to Pam’s siblings, Peter, Donna, and Kelli for your many trips from Topeka, Kansas to Langley to encourage Will and support me and the kids during his many surgeries, procedures, and finally his passing; to Will’s sister, Lois (the kid’s GaGa), for taking care of them when I had to be gone; to Will’s brother, Jerry, for his wonderful, loving care of Will when I couldn’t be there in Kansas City, before and after his bone marrow transplants and driving him to his appointments with the doctors; to their beloved children who brought so much joy and happiness to Papa Will. Thanks for your love and care of me during this painful time; and especially for the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ who was our peace and strength through every harrowing moment; and the assurance that Will is finally free of sickness and pain forever in heaven with you and reunited with his loved ones who passed before him. We are not grieving as those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). We know a marvelous resurrection reunion is coming soon. (1 Corinthians 15:51-58).
