William Poe

Grove - William Allen "Bill" Poe, 75, of Grove, died at 11:45 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove. Bill was born August 18, 1932 in Seligman, Missouri to William Benjamin and Bessie Viola (Martin) Poe, one of thirteen children. Bill attended schools in Seligman and graduated from Seligman High School. He served as a Corporal in the U. S. Army for two years. Bill retired from ARA Vending, Kansas City, Missouri in 1977 and then retired again in 1995 from Farrier's Super Center in Grove, OK. On June 29, 1997, he married Carolyn Handle at Cornerstone Church in Grove. Bill and Carolyn were great friends and would do anything for each other. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Max Poe and his wife Alice of Joplin, Missouri, and Bill Poe and his sweetheart Cheryl Zook of Kansas City, Kansas; two daughters, Patricia O'Rourke and her husband Sean of Blue Springs, Missouri and Jackie Handle-Thompson and her husband Richard of Grove, Oklahoma; three sisters, Lola Ashburn of Grandview, MO, Deloris Dabrowski of Spring Hill, MO, and Sandra Woodard of Springdale, AR; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters. Bill loved his wife, family, life, and God. He was a great nature lover and enjoyed hunting and fishing especially when teaching his grandkids to fish. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Funeral services for Mr. Poe will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Grand Lake Family Fellowship in Grove with Pastor James Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at the Zena Cemetery. Pallbearers Max Poe, Russell Handle, Ryan Handle, Brandon Handle, Tony Plummer, and Joe Walters. Tony Dixon and Garett Handle, and Loren Rush will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The Grove Ritual Team will provide full military honors. The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association in memory of Mr. Poe. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove is in charge of arrangements.
